About

My name is

Kimmy Beamsley

SIMJA (pronounced SIM-yah) is an acronym for Spectrum Imagination Mary Jane Art. Simja is described as deep, resilient joy. A deep, abiding spiritual release of the soul that can include pain and death, involving experiencing life fully in the present moment.

This resonated with me so much. I believe all creative expression is a form of spiritual release and personally, finding painting has healed parts of me that I can only explain as wounds I carried from past soul journeys and was perpetually infecting through unbroken cycles.

Creation is an unmatchable dimension of calm and state of mindfulness, and that is what SIMJA represents.

I am a full-time mum and wife.

I am a self taught artist and my world is chaos, so I am inspired by colour, nature, and my inner world.

My creative practice is grounded in painting, forest walks, meditation, and family life.

After a long period of absence shaped by family medical challenges, I am reintroducing myself - not with regret, but with clarity and gentleness.

Healing is a continuum, and creativity is part of that growth.

SIMJA is a space where imagination, resilience, and quiet strength meet.

Art Journey

Welcome to my creative space!

I’m Kimmy, I am a self taught artist and I have been painting in my spare time over the past 4 years.

My work blends intuitive expression, colour, and texture to create pieces that speak to the heart. Whether abstract, atmospheric, or inspired by my internal world, I have used art as a way to express what I struggle to verbally process.

This website is not just a shop; it’s my artistic home. And it’s built with a deeper purpose: to create a space where like-minded creatives can feel inspired, confident, and unafraid to share their art with the world.

I know firsthand how discouraging it can feel to be self-taught or to learn through tutorials only to be told that it makes you “less than.” I’m here to break that stigma. Creativity belongs to everyone.

Let me also be clear, I am not disregarding formal education. Studying your passion, refining your craft, and developing your skills through structured learning is amazing. Education can help unlock potential. But raw, self-driven talent, honed through observation, practice, curiosity, and experience can reach the very same heights without needing a certificate to validate it.

I respect artists by the work they create, not by the institution on their CV, just as I respect people by how they treat others, not by their socioeconomic background.

I have learned to paint through patience, perseverance and practice and I remain driven by passion and instinct. Embracing colours, depths, patterns and shapes, I express my subconscious through art while understanding that controlling creation leads to rigidity.

The best art I produce is when I have no plan but a lot to process.

Art is a personal journey that heals our mind, body, and spirit. The art industry can be viewed as a comparative, competitive industry rather than a therapeutic hobby. I have learnt to use meditation to relax. I allow my mind to guide my painting process in a similar state.

So, I’m here as an untrained artist, believing that if my work evokes feelings in others, while creating and healing, I am fulfilling my purpose.

Your only competition is yourself, be inspired by others not intimidated. SIMJA is about support and forever learning.

Just remember, you can only fail if you let fear win, so take the leap.
